• Moms Who Care was started in 2009 at the East Peoria Community High School, providing hygiene bags to the school nurse for distribution to qualifying students.  That continued until the school board approved a room to be operated by Moms Who Care at the school in 2012.  The room was able to open because of generous donations from the community of hygiene products, gently used/new clothing, school supplies and after school snacks.  In 2014 the program had grown and a larger room was given.

WHAT WE DO

  • Moms Who Care is now at a total of 11 junior high and high schools.

  • Moms Who Care is funded by donations, in-kind and monetary, no salaries are taken.

  • On average, 800 students per month are helped. Students “shop” for the things they need, like basic hygiene products, snacks and school supplies.

  • Monetary donations are used to purchase specific items such as work clothing, tennis shoes and essential items that are not in the room.

  • Moms Who Care is a locally funded organization that relies primarily on community donations.

  • Students who are on free or reduced lunch programs, emancipated and homeless students

  • Any student the school nurses or counselor thinks are in need of our program
